Happiness Everyday!

Happiness as a concept brings different images and thoughts to every person.  What makes me happy may not make you happy.  Happiness is an experience that can occur throughout each day.  In fact, you should make a habit of daily happiness.  Use your senses and observation skills to begin to invite happiness into your day.  Take in the beauty of the morning when you awake.  Wake up gently, stretch, enjoy the early morning light, the peace of a good night's sleep, and the opportunity of a new day. 

Counter any negative thoughts that arise or any of the "have to" thoughts that bombard you early in the day.  Make a list of what needs to be done and move on to a happy thought.  Share a happy moment with a loved one, a pet, a neighbor or coworker. 

Throughout the day, enjoy small moments of happiness....a scented hand lotion, a bite of decadent chocolate, a funny story, a walk in a garden, the vision of a laughing child, a cup of your favorite tea or coffee....the opportunities for a pleasant moment are endless.  Read a chapter in a great book, window shop on your break, get outside in the sunshine for a few minutes, write a note of encouragement for someone, these are the moments that make up life.  

If you do not take these moments for yourself to experience happiness....you will feel cheated and burned out with daily life.   Happiness becomes a habit. 

You may need to leave yourself reminders to do these little things until it does become a habit.  Find joyful moments in your day at work and at home.
